At first sight, it would seem as if music were a medium in its nature resistant to Realism, but that is to reckon without the obvious use that music has always made of sounds directly associated with life—church bells, hunting horns, military bands, and… Historical conceptions Music is everywhere to be heard. But what is music? A definition of music itself will take longer. Tone , moreover, is only one component in music, others being rhythm , timbre tone colour , and texture. Electronic machinery enabled some composers to create works in which the traditional role of the interpreter is abolished and to record, directly on tape or into a digital file, sounds that were formerly beyond human ability to produce, if not to imagine.

Indian Americans[ edit ] The model minority label also includes South Asian communities, in particular, Indian Americans , because of their high socioeconomic success. But, Indian-Asians face a type of racism and discrimination, despite their Model Minority status, that other Asians do not face. One of the forms of this is discrimination based on religion; often times, South Asians in America face racism that that is a result of mislabeling like being called Middle-Eastern or Muslim by the way they look, whether they actually identify with those groups, with Muslim Americans being markedly poorer than Hindu Americans. There is conflict within the Indian-Asian immigrant population in the US, as some exalt their "positive" minority status and wish to uphold it, resulting in complacency when attacked racially and even sometimes going as far as to support political candidates that are anti-immigration.
The Big Bang Theory XXX Parody
Scale, in music , any graduated sequence of notes , tones , or intervals dividing what is called an octave. The specific selection of different tones in any piece of music generally reveals a pattern of relationships among its pitches that can be expressed as a series of fixed distances intervals from one pitch to another within the span of an octave. The interval relationships among pitches of a scale are its essential feature, and a particular pattern of intervals defines every scale. Other aspects of pitch usage in music—such as range distance from the highest pitch used to the lowest , emphasis placed on certain pitches, or the simultaneous harmonic and successive melodic occurrence of tones—do not alter the identity of the scale, although they may be essential in describing its function. Although the number of different scales that can be formulated is theoretically nearly infinite , particular scales tend to become conventionalized within any given culture or musical tradition.
Apart from this categorization, intervals can also be divided into consonant and dissonant. As explained in the following paragraphs, consonant intervals produce a sensation of relaxation and dissonant intervals a sensation of tension. In tonal music, the term consonant also means "brings resolution" to some degree at least, whereas dissonance "requires resolution". The consonant intervals are considered the perfect unison , octave , fifth , fourth and major and minor third and sixth, and their compound forms.
